How to use the Hackney Museum Virtual Tour
The tour is made up of 14 individual scenes, starting at Hackney Town Hall
Square and moving through the displays and exhibition spaces of Hackney Museum.
Each scene is a 360 degree panorama taken from a particular place.
Using the panoramas
Using the control panel
Use the control panel to navigate through the tour and move
within each scene.
- The Left /Right, Up / Down and Zoom
In/Out buttons will control the view within each scene.
- The Previous and Next arrows move from
one scene to the next.
- The Play and Stop buttons will play and
stop within a scene
Click on the
restart button at any time to go back to the first view.
The final scene
(the temporary exhibition gallery) is a slide show of still images which change
automatically. The control panel buttons do not do anything on this
page.
Using your
mouse
You can use your mouse to move
within a scene:
- Click and drag to move the view in the
direction you want to see
- Click on the hotspot
to move to another scene
- Single click on the view to stop it
rotating
- Double click to make the viewer full
screen
- Right click to get advanced options.
Using the maps
There are two maps. The first is a street map
showing the location of the Museum. The second is a plan of the museum showing
the galleries and education room. Moving through the sequence of scenes will
automatically take
you from the street map to the gallery plan. You can also right click on the map at any time and use the advance options menu to change between them.
Hotspots are shown on the maps using this icon:
Click on a hotspot on the map to move to a different scene.
The direction of the view as you move around a
particular scene is also shown on the map.
- Click and drag to move the map within
the window, or use the scroll bars.
- Double click on the map to make it full
screen.
- Right click to get advanced options.

Technical requirements
For the best performance of this
virtual tour you will need Adobe Flash Player version 9.0.115.0 or higher. If
you have an older version installed, or use other operating systems or browsers
such as Microsoft
Vista or Firefox, some or all of the virtual tour, e.g. the full screen view, will not work.
If you do not have Flash Player you will need to install
it.
If you have
an older version (with a lower number), you will need to uninstall the old
version in the usual way.
The most recent
versions can be downloaded from
http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/ then
follow the instructions to install it.
