How to use the Hackney Museum Virtual Tour

The tour is made up of 14 individual scenes, starting at Hackney Town Hall Square and moving through the displays and exhibition spaces of Hackney Museum. Each scene is a 360 degree panorama taken from a particular place.

Using the panoramas

Using the control panel

Use the control panel to navigate through the tour and move within each scene.

  • The Left /Right, Up / Down and Zoom In/Out buttons will control the view within each scene.
  • The Previous and Next arrows move from one scene to the next.
  • The Play and Stop buttons will play and stop within a scene

Click on the restart button at any time to go back to the first view.

The final scene (the temporary exhibition gallery) is a slide show of still images which change automatically. The control panel buttons do not do anything on this page.

Using your mouse

You can use your mouse to move within a scene:
  • Click and drag to move the view in the direction you want to see
  • Click on the hotspot to move to another scene
  • Single click on the view to stop it rotating
  • Double click to make the viewer full screen
  • Right click to get advanced options.

Using the maps

There are two maps. The first is a street map showing the location of the Museum. The second is a plan of the museum showing the galleries and education room. Moving through the sequence of scenes will automatically take you from the street map to the gallery plan. You can also right click on the map at any time and use the advance options menu to change between them.

Hotspots are shown on the maps using this icon: Click on a hotspot on the map to move to a different scene.

The direction of the view as you move around a particular scene is also shown on the map.

  • Click and drag to move the map within the window, or use the scroll bars.
  • Double click on the map to make it full screen.
  • Right click to get advanced options.
