The London Borough of Haringey’s website has come in the top twenty local authority websites in the country, according to a survey of 468 council sites.

The council’s website was judged in the latest survey by the Society of Information Technology Management (SOCITM)

The pages on teaching in Haringey were described as “an example of best practice,” and the virtual tours of Haringey parks also got a special mention with one assessor saying:

“The parks’ 360 degree panoramic virtual tours are very impressive, both in their features and the sheer number of them. This was an altogether clever little feature that would certainly enable you to familiarise yourself with the park’s layout, attractions and facilities. I felt like I had been to visit!”

Virtual Tours head North

Posted June 9th, 2006 in by Joe

The newly launched Kirklees Visitor Portal displays our first example of exporting our Virtual Tours to an indipendant external source. A project of Kirklees Metropolitan Council, the aim of the visitor portal is to allow potential visitors and residents to gather information and view parts of this Yorkshire region. After a rigorous round of user testing, the feedback shows the positive marketing effect that our Virtual Tours have on potential customers. One tester explained that seeing our tour would make her;

“…definately more inclined to go because it makes you more familiar with the area…the more familiar you are with an area before you go, and the more information you have, the better…”

Testers were from a range of social and cultural backgrounds, with varying degrees of web experience and use, providing us with a useful variety of feedback on our tours.
